Controversy Level

The Controversy Level measures how often and how severely a company is involved in serious social or environmental issues, such as labor disputes, data breaches, or environmental damage. Companies are rated from Low to Severe, which helps calculate a fund’s overall Controversy Level.

Range

Controversy Level range.
The Morningstar Controversy Level assigns a rating of Low (1), Moderate (2), Significant (3), High (4), and Severe risk (5).

Usage

The Controversy Level may be displayed on its own.

The Controversy Level may be displayed in tables or other data visualizations.

Don’t use the Controversy Level in stock or fund headers.

Sizing
